How You Can Help When Your Neighbor is Going Through a Hardship Sale?
We have several homes which are going through hardship sales. Some are foreclosures, some short sales, and some are just behind in payments. As a neighbor, what can you do?
One thing is to try and help them if you can with the branches that may have come down in the ice storm, or help with just cleaning up. The agents who lists them are more than likely all ready investing in trying to get the banks to close on the home. We cannot come in and save everyone, although we would love to! We cannot mow, trim, clean, and maintain every listing in our inventory.
Being a good friend and neighbor will help you maintain the integrity of your neighborhood and the resale values. We got a call from a neighbor this evening that there were branches down and it looked messy over at the neighbor's home. For some reason, they believe we should take over what has been neglected for years. We just cannot do this. The bank is not going to do anything for us, we cannot spend more than we will ever hope to receive in return for hours on the phone with negotiators and attorneys. Just think about it for a moment and you will understand why we are sad that it is happening, but truly being a good neighbor is not complaining on the sidelines, but helping out when the chips are down!
Overall it is imperitive that we all take care of our neighbors! That is where it all lies is in the compassion of others in their time of need.
